REFORMED QC SYSTEM 'A SIGN OF EXCELLENCE' - BAR CHAIRMAN:
Bar Council Press Release

MARCH 2007

The new system for appointing Queen's Counsel is growing stronger, Bar Chairman Geoffrey Vos QC has said.

Speaking after a meeting of the Bar Council on Saturday, he confirmed that the total of 333 applicants applying for Silk in 2007 alone was comfortably up with the last competition, which attracted 443 applicants for the 3-year period from 2002 to 2005.

Chairman of the Bar, Geoffrey Vos QC said:

‘The continued interest in silk is to be welcomed. Last year’s figures included an element of pent-up demand over three years, and for applications to have maintained themselves at the level they have is a testament to the robust and attractive nature of the reformed system.
