A long-term prisoner sentenced for an offence committed before 30
September 1998, who had been released on licence but recalled to
prison after 4 April 2005, when the Criminal Justice Act 2003
came into force, continued to be entitled to unconditional
release after he had served three quarters of his sentence, under
s 33(3) in Pt 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991.
