The debate about whether the Human Rights Act is good or bad continues.
Here is the Lord Chancellor in a speech at the Hansard Society on 16 May 2006: "What we must do as politicians is make clear that public safety must come first in these cases where the issue is whether somebody should get released, which is why we will look at whether legislation is needed in this area. We must say loud and clear that human rights do not compromise public safety." For the full speech (not long) go to: http://www.dca.gov.uk/speeches/2006/sp060516.htm
