Control Order Anonymity Vital?

Anonymity Orders for Control Order Absconders
Home Office Press Release
26 October 2006
The Home Office will today, on police advice, resist requests by
the Associated Newspapers Ltd, News International (News Group and
Times Newspapers), Guardian Newspapers, the Telegraph Group and
the BBC to lift the anonymity orders in respect of two
individuals who have absconded while under control orders.
Policing and Counter-terrorism Minister Tony McNulty said:  "In
the case of the two recent control order absconders there has
been close and ongoing consultation with the police on the matter
of anonymity and we continue to be advised by them that there
would be substantial operational disadvantages in removing the
anonymity orders."
