Client Confidentiality in Old Court Papers

Law Society Secures Client Confidentiality with Court
Win Over the DCA on Court Papers
Law Society Press Release
28 November 2006
The Law Society has agreed to withdraw its judicial review claim
against the DCA, following a commitment from the Rules Committee
that CPR 5.4C will be amended to apply only to statements of case
filed in proceedings on or after 2 October 2006. As part of the
settlement, the DCA has agreed to pay the Law Society’s costs.
The Law Society argued that the change should only apply to
statements filed after 2nd October, and that the old Rule should
continue to apply to statements filed before that date.
