Bar Council Press Release
16 April 2007
The Bill returns to the Upper House for its Report Stage after the Easter Recess amid concerns among many Peers about the Government’s responses, during the recently concluded and detailed Committee stage, to reassurances sought by Peers over key aspects of the proposed legislation.
Bar Chairman Geoffrey Vos QC has written to the Lords concerned, and is conducting a fresh round of lobbying meetings, seeking their support for amendments on Report to strengthen the Bill, in the public interest.
