Muslim Family Law Not Grounds For Asylum

Asylum Because of Sharia Family Law??
EM (Lebanon) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2006] EWCA Civ 1531
CA
21 November 2006
Daily Law Notes Summary
There was no reason to grant asylum to a mother who, if returned
to her native country, would be governed by Sharia law, under
which she would automatically lose custody of her son. There was
not a “complete denial” of the right to family life guaranteed by
arts 8 and 14 of the Convention for the Protection of Human
Rights and Fundamental Freedoms since she could be granted
visitation rights.
