The Law Society has today criticised the government for failing to conduct a thorough review of the first phase of home information packs (HIPs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) before extending the scheme to smaller properties.
The Society's concerns follow a government announcement that HIPs and EPCs will be rolled out to three bedroom properties from 10 September.
So Now You Need To Use The New Forms New Law Society TransAction forms will be available from 1 August 2007 . This suite of industry standard forms, widely accepted by the profession, has been expanded and adapted to comply with the HIP regulations and may be used to prepare HIPs. The new versions enable solicitors to prepare a HIP flexibly, but are designed to integrate with the conveyancing process, whether or not a HIP is used. The forms and National Conveyancing Protocol will be updated as the HIP situation evolves.
